Carina Mackenzie – Chair QLD Branch AUSIT, NAATI-certified Translator and Interpreter

Carina Mackenzie is a Spanish interpreter and translator, certified by NAATI and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Carina completed a degree in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Granada in Spain, a postgraduate certificate in Interlingual Respeaking with the University of Vigo in Spain and holds the CIOL Diploma of Public Service Interpreting in English Law. Prior to moving into translation and interpreting Carina worked as a certified English as a Foreign Language teacher in Asia, Latin America and Europe.

Carina is the current Chair of the Queensland branch of the Australian Institute of Translators and Interpreters (AUSIT) and sits on the AUSIT National Council. In her role, Carina advocates for translators and interpreters at events and meetings with stakeholders, always seeking to strengthen the profession. Carina is a strong believer that membership of a professional association such as AUSIT is key to personal career growth. Likewise, a professional association can only thrive from the collective strength it derives from all practitioners.

 

Despina Amanatidou – Interpreting Manager, 2M Language Services 

Despina Amanatidou is 2M’s Interpreting Manager and a NAATI Certified Interpreter and Translator with over 11 years’ experience in the public health sector. Despina has an in-depth understanding of the barriers that the CALD healthcare consumers face in accessing  information and services as well as the issues encountered by the practitioners and the rest of the participants in an interpreter-mediated encounter.
